My New School

Well, I've been in school at the University of Oregon for a week and a half now. Things are going well so far, and the three classes I'm taking are very similar to three classes I've already had before at BYU, so I don't think they'll be too difficult.

I'm teaching a class of college algebra, and that's going well. The students are supposed to submit their homework online, and the program they use has been giving us some troubles, but it is all mostly taken care of. Things seem to be running pretty smoothly now.

There are some interesting differences between Oregon and BYU. For example, we have department tea here, and most of my fellow graduate students, though they are moderate compared with the undergraduates, go to parties and stuff. The faculty is also incredibly relaxed. The norm is to call your math professors by their first name and for them to not erase the chalkboard after class is over. That's for the next teacher to do. :0)
